The proposed amalgamation is unacceptable. Each local authority has the charge of biologically unique environment that is best served by individuals from the area. Attempting to dissolve local authorities for fewer, more central authorities is not the solution. This proposed initiative may seem efficient in terms of financials, yet the majority of Ontario’s have made it clear that our natural resources and environment are something that should be sustained and protected.
The economic improvement playbook of the provincial government needs to take a different angle. Time and time again the Ford government has attempted to desecrate the environment to favour few. This is not good policy, this is greed.
