It is disingenuous of the Transportation Minister, and governing party, to quote such outdated usage statistics to justify such backwards, uninformed, and frankly incorrect action and overreach to remove or prevent bike lanes from being built in Ontario municipalities.

The science, data, and on the ground lived experience of road users shows that bike lines result in decreased traffic congestion.

We are living in the midst of a climate emergency. Anything we can to do enable and encourage travel modalities other than personal automobiles should be championed and fast tracked.

We have transportation policy that has prioritized the personal automobile for decades, to the detriment of essentially all stakeholders.

Bike lanes - particularly separated, protected lanes - save lives directly, and indirectly.
Bike lanes enrich communities.
Bike lanes enrich local businesses.
Bike lanes improve family life.

There is zero real justification to turn roads & streets inside any city into wider urban highways, allowing drivers to travel at ever faster speeds, endangering everyone around them, and ruining local communities.
