There are major problems with the proposal.
There has been a deliberate strategy to limit public consultation:
a) a limited 30 day period for comment which has been scheduled during the holiday period when people have other things on their minds;
b) a deliberate attempt to limit access to support materials. Why can they not be posted on line?
c) there has been a deliberate effort to hide the location at Ontario Place
I have contacted a few interest groups and the media to expose this under-the-radar strategy.
The second disturbing aspect is the proposal for a combined sewage outlet. Toronto has spent a great deal of time and effort to separate sewage and stormwater overflow in the interest of cleaning up the waterfront. And now, we have the prospect of an outlet in an intensely used part of our waterfront.
This is not acceptable. Greater transparency and a respect for our environment is required. Yet another example of the secrecy surrounding Ontario Place, one of the GTA's prime locations.
