Re the Ontario Place (955 Lake Shore Boulevard) development's proposal for an interim combined sewer.
I am HORRIFIED to hear about this. The City of Toronto has done DECADES of work to separate and replace combines sewers across the city, to that raw sewage doesn't spew into Lake Ontario — and now it's going to happen because of the super-spa that most Ontarians *do not want*, that could make a tourist destination of many local (GTA) cities or suburbs that could use it, but instead it's downtown Toronto? Disgusting (literally).
There currently exist international agreements to protect water quality and habitat in the Great Lakes and this is in direct opposition to them. It risks human and animal health and the health of the lake which is an international tourist destination (but certainly won't be if it's full of excretion!).
We are in a time of severe biodiversity loss. This proposal — which benefits ONLY the private sector — is not in the public or international interest.
