Hello,
I am writing to comment on the proposal for an interim combined sewer to support development at 955 Lake Shore Boulevard (Ontario Place at the West Channel).
I am concerned about this proposal as it appears to intend to put a combined sewer into the confined environment of the West Channel. This goes against the substantial work currently and previous undertaken by the city of Toronto to separate combined sewers to prevent the discharge raw sewage into Lake Ontario. This also appears to disagree with international agreements to protect the water quality and habitat of in the Great Lakes. This combined sewer effluent (though proposed to be temporary) also risk human health in the recreationally used West Channel.
The work (with potential negative consequences above) is to support the private sector spa at Ontario Place, which also does not benefit the public interest.
I hope that this permit will be denied or revised if these adverse consequences are not properly mitigated (which needs to be explained to the public).
