The sewage outflow in the section along the breakwall is exactly the wrong place for a sewage outlet. I've been a member of Toronto Sailing and Canoe Club for over 30 years and have had many events run for sailors in that stretch. As fleet captain and being on the board over that time we've had sailing school each summer, Olympic class events, hosted the Pan Am trials at the club and had hundreds of visiting dignitaries attend our very small club. TSCC is one of the oldest clubs on the lake going back over 100 years, situated between the Argonaut rowing club and Boulevard. We are a collegial community and share this area and our resources including both canoeing, hosting outrigger events and of course racing. The recent Olympic rower Adam Van Koeverden trained out of Argonaut Club. Marilyn Bell Park is where the historic swimmer made her swim. She was only sixteen at the time and she made the 52 km swim in 20 hours and 59 minutes. The date was 1984. Our club gates are about 800 feet from the park. We know already first hand what harms come from debris in the water after the Caribana festival that littered onto the shores because of tide winds. We know exactly the harms of medical waste showing up from the Humber River because of currents. Kids had to watch for needles and toxic materials near the ramps. We would expect that the sewer system be modernized and prioritized in this area.
