On Exemption for property,
- Government should not be the sole arbiture of what can be exempt, first nation representation needs to have a significant voice, possibly the final voice in any exemption.
On "The amendments would include an authority to establish, in regulation, criteria that must be met for a property to be eligible for an exemption"
- this is over reach, by placing criteria in regulation removes any possible site that does not meet criteria listed. Thus reducing the scope of eligible sites and their cultural impact, reducing possible future insight into subjects that are not on the mind of the present day population.
on Expanding existing inspection authorities.
Only those who have a high level of understanding such as those who have an archaeological licence under the OHA, should have inspection authority.
Giving inspection powers or allowing a ministry " to direct an inspection for the purpose of assessing whether any artifacts or archaeological sites are on any land, or land under water" is not aceptable it is allowing to much power in the hands of people who may not have the best interests of the first nation in mind.
