As a resident of Prince Edward County, I have seen how a small group of very vocal and newly arrived retirees have divided this community and led Mr Smith and municipal council to believe that there is no support for the White PInes project. If Mr Smith had taken the time to get to know all his constituents, he would have learned that a great many residents of the County support this project. Furthermore, he should have done the work to educate the misinformed and uninformed individuals who oppose renewable energy and made a case for supporting this worthwhile project that will benefit generations to come. As it stands, only a handful of people of a certain age who won't likely be around 20 years from now appear to be making policy for the Conservative government. It is time for Mr Smith to be the bigger man and admit that political expediency doesn't make for good energy policy.
