We, the citizens of Ontario, disturbed by past irresponsible, incompetent and unethical activity concerning development (in the case of the current Provincial Conservative Government, the Greenbelt, Ontario Place and Ontario Science Centre debacles) oppose Bill 5, in particular the designation of special economic zones in which appropriate diligence as to social and environmental impacts will not be required, regulations relaxed or even rewritten, and our province's important natural, arable and publicly-owned-and-enjoyed lands compromised. We have seen governments avoid, ignore, distort or directly oppose expert and public opinion (such as in the cases cited above) and believe this to be inappropriate in a democratic society. This is our province, Premier - we elected you, and we expect you to work for us.
