Making these changes to this Act is in direct opposition of reconciliation and respect with the Indigenous Peoples and communities in the Treaty territories. It teaches our children that our words and commitments continue to mean nothing and that the government will continue to oppress and destroy Treaty agreements and move forward with colonization and destruction.

Attempting to shield these proposed changes in the guise of progress is nearsighted at best. There are countless vacant spaces throughout communities that could be utilized to create AFFORDABLE housing, the actual need at these times. Moving forward with these changes will continue to show all Ontarians struggling that their needs are inconsequential to the desires of those wishing to own obscene properties in otherwise off-limits spaces - at the expense of other living beings on this land.

The Conservative government and Doug Ford need to stop using September 30th as a vacation day and start actually listening to the Indigenous voices who are GENEROUSLY providing guidance and wisdom about how we, as descendants of colonizers and people who are helping the evolution and progress of colonization, can live in accordance with our Treaty agreements.
