Please accept the attached staff report as comments from the Township of Muskoka Lakes regarding the creation of the 'Special Economic Zones' Act. The Township is concerned that this legislation would remove public consultation and municipal governance and decision making from future development projects. Municipalities can both benefit from and bear the burden of development within their jurisdictions and it is therefore important that they, and the public, remain involved in the decision making process.
