I strongly oppose this act. I have already contacted my MPP with questions in regards to this act, but have not received answers. The questions are:

-How do schedules 7 (Ontario Heritage Act), and schedule 9 interact with municipal zoning by-laws? Does this mean that the broader Ontario economy will be prioritized over municipal concerns?

-How does this bill account for loss of agricultural lands?

-What are the recovery plans for infractions? How will jail time and fines mitigate the risks/ help recover from damage done by infrastructure?
Ex. If “old growth” (decades or centuries old) trees are cut down for residential rezoning (as is the case for the trees lining eighth line in Georgetown)
-What is the recovery strategy for green space and carbon reduction?

-How will violations be reported? Who will they be reported to?
-What are the “protection guidance and implementation supports”?
-How does this take into consideration vegetal species at risk which are reliant upon interconnected relationships within eco-systems? (Example: pollutants entering waterways)
-How does this bill account for habitat loss? Will more habitats and conservation zones be allocated for impacted species?
