This proposed change under Bill 5 is likely the most dangerous of all the proposed changes, and I am in strong opposition. This proposed change is right out of the fascist handbook, claiming better economic growth, but underhandedly a power grab that eliminates the governance processes that allow citizens to keep those in power in check. All of the current laws in place that supposedly make it difficult to develop the land even more are there for a purpose! That purpose is to keep balance, that purpose is to ensure development doesn't go rampant and unchecked, that purpose is to serve the people of this province, and that purpose is democratic. This Bill directly challenges our democracy, and if approved would most definitely be challenged in the courts through attacks on our Charter of Rights and Freedoms. PLEASE DO NOT APPROVE THIS BILL. We do not need our own version of Trump or his fascist policies in Ontario.
