As Ontario moves forward with revitalizing it’s economy, it is apparent that the government has adopted the ethos of the tech industry: “move fast and break things”
It’s a toddler’s ethos. Economies and environments should not be broken, not matter the short term gain. Previous governments and corporations have taken this approach, and we are still trying to resolve the fall out (for example, the ongoing issues with mercury in Grassy Narrows).
As we move forward through these difficult economic times, I ask the government to reconsider the many components of this bill that weaken environmental protections, and instead consider the opportunities available to strengthen the economy by making long term investments in the very land that gives Ontario it’s strength.
