Please please reconsider what message is being sent by allowing such a bill to be authorized. This isn't progress, it's moving backwards in a time that we need to protect what natural landscapes and habitat we have left. Leave the resources in the ground, and stop development and extraction. In this era of climate uncertainty, surely we can agree that the value of strengthening our environmental protections will provide the most value to Ontario, Canada and the world as a whole. We need climate stability much much more than development. Please reconsider this bill. We need real lasting change, we do not need to compete against tariffs, or allow other countries messy political games to pull as backwards.
Not only is this harmful to what remains of our incredible ecosystems, it directly infringes on First Nations rights and sovereignty. We as a society are more important than we as an economy. Please don't sell our future for immediate profit. Consider the economic benefits and message to our future and make the choice to protect the sensitive wetlands, peatlands and other ecological wonders which are so important to our changing climate.
Thank you,
Concerned Citizen
