I’m very concerned about Bill 5 (Special Economic Zones Act, 2025). This bill would give the Premier and Cabinet too much power to approve projects without following normal laws or getting public input.

It puts our forests, wetlands, farmland, and endangered species at serious risk, all to fast-track development. It also allows the government to choose “trusted proponents,” which opens the door to favoritism and backroom deals.

Ontario needs transparent, fair, and environmentally responsible planning — not laws that cut corners and silence communities.

Please reconsider this bill. It’s bad for democracy, bad for nature, and bad for Ontario’s future.
