Bill 5 is bill that has little thought to the future of our drinking water especially here in the Waterloo Region where we take up to 80%of our drinking water from aquifers. If we destroy even the small wetlands which filter our water or destroy the habitat for endangered species we will have no indicator species that will alert us to areas that have been contaminated. Professor Nandita Basu from the University of Waterloo has produced and excellent research paper on the importance of not just large wetlands but small wetlands and how they filter our water. We are going to see a glut of housing in 3-4 years but we can’t turn back the clock on the destruction of endangered species habitats and wetlands . Once they are gone they are gone. Premier Ford please for our future generations do not put this into action!!
