The special economic zones…

The special economic zones are an affront to our democracy and the rule of law. It is outrageous to think that our Conservative provincial government would bring forward legislation that actually enables the kind of authoritarian powers currently replacing democratic rights in the U.S. that it based it's election campaign on defending us against. It is unimaginable that the province would choose to bring forward legislation that empowers it to override provincial and municipal laws. This is a bold-faced attack on protections of our environment, natural and green spaces, biodiversity, wildlife species including species at risk, farms, forests, wetlands and the health of the people of Ontario.
This government seems to have forgotten that it there to represent the people of this province. The people of this province do not want this legislation and did not vote in this government to bring this forward.
The special economic zones are one of many egregious aspects of Bill 5, which should be withdrawn in its entirety.
