Determining what species are endangered or not should NOT be a political process. It is a scientific process and should not be undermined. For all the damage we have already caused and continued to cause to habitat and biodiversity loss through our actions, we can not reduce legislative protections and harm the species we have left even more! There are many other policies we can use to streamline development proposals and make building easier in this province. I know that your policy analysts know that as well. Why would you want your political impact to be going backwards and becoming more harmful to the environment rather than less? You say you want “sustainable economic growth”… this is NOT IT. In addition, you are violating Indigenous sovereignty with this bill! Finally, the provincial government needs to stop trying to override the decisions of municipalities and meddle in their business and instead focus on providing services that are supposed to be provided by the provincial government!
