I am writing to express my profound concern and strong objection, on behalf of myself and numerous fellow residents, regarding the proposed development of two 38-storey towers.
While we recognise the need for housing development, the sheer scale and density of this specific project pose unacceptable risks to the quality of life for existing residents and the functionality of the local infrastructure, specifically concerning traffic congestion. We urge you to halt the approval process immediately and mandate a comprehensive review focusing on these critical impacts

My primary objections are as follows:

1. Severe Degradation of Quality of Life:
Overwhelming Density & Overcrowding: Introducing thousands of new residents into this confined area will fundamentally alter the character of our neighbourhood. Public spaces nearby, local amenities, and essential services are already operating near capacity. This influx will lead to severe overcrowding, excessive noise, and significantly longer wait times for services.

2. Catastrophic Traffic Congestion:
Inadequate Road Network: The local road system is already heavily congested during peak hours. These roads are not designed to absorb additional daily vehicle trips generated by two 38-storey towers (residents, visitors, delivery vehicles, service providers). This development will inevitably lead to chronic gridlock, significantly increasing commute times, air pollution from idling vehicles, and driver frustration. More critically, it will impede emergency service access (ambulances, fire trucks, police), creating a genuine public safety hazard. Even with proposed basement parking, the sheer number of new residents will spill over into surrounding residential streets, exacerbating existing parking shortages and creating chaos.

I formally request that your department:

1. Immediately suspend all current approvals and halt the progress of this specific development proposal.
2. Mandate a Comprehensive, Independent Impact Assessment that specifically and rigorously evaluates:
* The cumulative impact on local traffic flow, including detailed traffic modelling for peak and off-peak times.
* The adequacy of existing roads and infrastructure upgrades is required before any development proceeds.
* The impact on healthcare facilities, parks, and other public services.
* The environmental impact, including shadow studies, noise pollution, and increased emissions.
* The social impact on community cohesion and resident well-being.
3. Ensure any revised proposal or impact assessment is presented in accessible public forums where residents' concerns are genuinely heard and addressed, not merely noted.
4. Explore significantly scaled-down development options for the site that align better with the existing neighbourhood character and infrastructure capacity, potentially incorporating more green space or community facilities.
