Being an avid angler of black bay and it's tributaries i have noticed a substantial drop in the numbers of brook and rainbow trout that use the tributaries for spawning in the spring and fall. I was told that the perch and walleye are eating all the fry when they start to head back to the lake. Which i agree with. Now the walleye is taking over the whole system. Catching walleye in the wolf is very common these days as well as black sturgeon.
I agree strongly about implimenting a better management plan for the whole system but it must include and benefit all species that use the system. Perch limits should be doubled, the plan for walleye is a start in the right direction, and it should be mandatory to catch and kill bass caught in the system. The one fish limit for trout is good but not helping the trout or salmon fry survive the barage of a walleye and perch they have to contend with.
