I am in favour of streamlining government approval processes and using government resources to get significant development projects off the ground. However, such special stimulus actions should never be used for private sector, 'for profit' housing, nor twinning or expanding highways that encourage more one-passenger car commutes.
And, no development measures should override environmental protections. Dropping requirements to protect species at risk is short-sighted to say the least. You can't get something back when it's gone.
We are only beginning to understand how interrelated all biological lifeforms are. To dismiss some plants, insects, reptiles and mammals as expendable is to 'play God'.
I believe the provincial government should respect and conserve the bounties of nature that Ontarians rely on and enjoy. Therefore, I strongly oppose diluting environmental protections as proposed in the Species Conservation Act.
