This bill is a gross overreach of provincial power and will stop municipalities from deciding what works for them. Bike lanes do not cause gridlock, this is proven by the provinces own research. Preventing alternative modes of travel will cause gridlock, create pollution, waste peoples time, and keep us hurtling towards climate apocalypse. The premier is so disinterested in the people of this province, he does not care if the streets remain unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists using them. I have commuted by bicycle for 10+ years and in that time I have been hit by cars three times. All three times were during broad daylight, while I was riding safely in a painted bike lane. I am very lucky, others are not. It is the duty of this government to protect it's constituents, especially it's most vulnerable like those who cannot afford massive trucks. Foreclosing the prospect of creating safe and separated bike lanes is terrible partisan politics and will get people killed.
