The idea of amalgamating 36 conservation authorities into 7 is absolutely ludicrous. There is no way that 7 offices can properly service all of the regions in Ontario. When you travel all across Ontario you can see how big and diverse it is. These conservation authorities need to be run by people who live in the areas and understand the landscape and regions and people. I am not a fan of the conservation authorities and have run into troubles dealing with them but they are necessary to keep the costs of insurance down. When areas constantly flood or have weather issues insurance companies will flat out leave these areas. Then what happens to the homes already built in these areas? They are left with nothing. Rethink this amendment. It will cost Ontarians too much.
