I am writing to urge the government to repeal Bill 5 and keep protections in place for the 106 at-risk and endangered species here in our Province. Nothing is more valuable or fragile than nature and the environment. One of Canada's most defining characteristics is the natural beauty of this incredible country, and our progressive stance in maintaining and caring for it. To strip that away is violently un-Canadian and flies in the face of everything we stand for as a community and people. There will always be other ways to make money, to strengthen the economy or create jobs or build infrastructure. But when a species is driven to extinction or an ecosystem is razed there is no going back and no second chances. When something as unique and precious as that is lost, there is no way to salvage the past.
