As an Ontario resident in the National Capital Region, I can not fathom how the inclusion of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority into the proposed, consolidated CA would make any sense even if the sole purpose was to reduce the number of independent agencies.
In addition to the massive geographic distance between the CA's the geology & flora/fauna of the LRCA is completely different than the other CA's in the proposal. Clearly this suggestion was crafted with a limited understanding of natural sciences.
I hope that major policy decisions like the amalgamation of conservation authorities are done in consultation with experts in the fields of natural sciences as well as with administrative experts.
