As a member of the Indigenous community, I think consolidation is ill advised. Your track record for « eliminating inefficiencies and cutting costs » show that, on both counts, you have failed.

Closing the children’s advocate agency has been disastrous for children and youth; the over-reach and abuse of power exhibited by child welfare and youth justice has caused major trauma in the many marginalized communities who already struggle with systemic discrimination within these systems.

Consistently? Your interference in Hydro1 cost ten times more than what you saved and the prices for hydro are more outrageous than ever.

Cutting rent control drove the price of housing through the roof and trusting a conservative government, that is myopic at best and downright corrupt on many levels, to centralize the administration of public lands which are still under Indigenous title puts all our futures at risk. Your government, like all your conservative predecessors, has acted without any thought to the long term cost of your foolish actions. In short, you can’t be trusted and we need to have local voices heard when decisions are made that impact the safety of the water and the land.

Hands off! Stop trying to consolidate power, this isn’t the US, stay in your lane and focus on the key issues that concern Ontarians: health care, education, child welfare, Ontario works, housing, power and policing. Once you get those right then, and only then, should even broach the subject.

PS do you have any idea how much racism in Ontario costs us? From the moment child welfare takes kids from their parents and sets them on the path of criminal behaviour and homelessness until day die in jail or in a psychiatric ward, they cost the province $10 000 000. $10 000 000 each. If we could get the racism out of the justice system and child welfare alone, not only would we save billions each year in legal costs, CAS fees, support staff etc but these kids would have a real chance at actually contributing to our economy.
