I do not trust the Ford government to continue, let alone, improve the conservation efforts for protecting our ravines and flood plains. I live in an area where The TRCA has been cut back and told not to object to extensive development in and around the ravine in which i live. As a result, i have witnessed mudslides and tree cutting on slopes and properties as a result of lack of TRCA pushback on large, iceberg basements and underground multi car garages that dig up a ravine and the hills that surround it all for single family dwellings. Destroying our ravines is not justified for building single family homes in excess of 20,000 square feet.
And, in my experience, of watching the Ford government bully it’s way to acquiring greenspace for urban sprawl that doesn’t make sense, i sense that this proposal is another means by which he will remove further conservation efforts for the sake of pleasing his builder buddies.
I do not trust any efforts of the Ford government wrt amending, changing, “improving” conservation efforts.
If the sole purpose of these changes were to improve, efficiency in the administration and the functionality of these organizations, (Like updating the flood plains map to current standards that truly represent the actual flooding in our area?!!) then i support such a proposal. But reducing the local factions and the boots on the ground in the CA’s, is just another way of bulldozing his way through development at all costs.
