Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed consolidation of Ontario’s conservation authorities. As a student in environmental policy, I support this direction because it strengthens consistency, reduces administrative duplication, and improves access to technical expertise across regions. A regional model can help deliver faster, more predictable permitting and enhance flood forecasting and hazard management by pooling resources. Maintaining watershed-based boundaries is also a strong scientific foundation for this restructuring. I encourage clear communication with municipalities and continued engagement with Indigenous communities to support a smooth transition. Overall, this proposal has strong potential to modernize and improve Ontario’s conservation system.
