Thank you for the opportunity to comment, although as a taxpayer, this is a basic right. I question the speed and transparency of this Conservation Authority consolidation process. Your report states there is evidence of inefficiencies, differing fee structures and levels of service, technical expertise, etc. It is incumbant upon the Province of Ontario to fully disclose this "review" and provide the evidence for this consolidation. Without that, we taxpayers must take your word for it. Not good enough.
CA's are one of the only remaining lines of defence available to our natural environments from rampant and reckless development, as well as favouritism and lobbying between our government officials and commercial land developers. If CA's are required to "better align the work of CAs with provincial priorities", what are those priorities? These should be stated clearly.
At this stage, I am opposed to this consolidation without further transparency around the CA efficiency review and the Province's priorities that CA's must align with.
I await the information, with great interest.
