I am very concerned about the proposed amalgamation of many of the conservation authorities, in particular where i live in Thunder Bay. Putting LRCA in with the Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority is another example of Southern Ontario not understanding exactly where these locations are, the HUGE distance NWO is from those connected in this plan, and the distinct nature of our environment/species/landscape and how it differs from those in other regions. Once again, we get lumped in as a mere afterthought into another region that has little connection to where we are.
To be clear, i don't support this redefinition at ALL to any of the conservation authorities. It's yet another example of the current government attempting to undercut environmental protections & oversights.
I support the LRCA’s recommendation that the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority form a stand-alone regional conservation authority as the “Northwestern Ontario Regional Conservation Authority.
