Ontario is nothing without our freshwater. Do not decrease the number of conservation authorities or change their boundaries.

This is very short term thinking.
Our housing solutions should not be looking to sprawl outward into undeveloped land, especially not with the speed this proposal has in mind. Housing solutions should be focusing on medium/high density, via Urban infill and slow, deliberate expansions . Since we are trying to house as many people and families as possible, not just increase the amount of buyable/sellable properties. Since we are trying to fix the housing crisis, not exacerbate it.

Consolidation of the conservation authorities would decrease local capabilities and create more bureaucratic lag / red tape within the authorities, which would reduce their effectiveness greatly.

If we interpret this proposal in good faith, then the proposal would be counterproductive to its own intentions and the responsibilities of the Ontario Government,
as it would either slow down land development,
or enable developments that are safety risks for the people living there and/or environmental risks.

And surely the Provincial Government wouldn't seek to knowingly put its people or environment in harm's way... Surely... Right?

If however we do not interpret this proposal in good faith, then it appears to be a rather dishonourable attempt to sacrifice Ontarians' well-beings for the convenience of land developers.
But I mean what nooo, THIS Government? No way they would never sell out to developers, what would be such a scandal, and surely not several different times already, that would be unthinkable...

Ontario has been a leader in watershed management and conservation, and the current system of the many existing distinct watershed conservation authorities is absolutely crucial to that success. Don't mess with our watershed stewards, it's a very short-sighted move
