As a resident of the Town of Oakville I completely oppose the proposal to build multiple high density towers. The immediate area neighbouring Oakville Go is already heavily congested. Traffic is already difficult to navigate. We do not need a high density neighbourhood which will only add more congestion and pollution to the environment and community.
We regularly take Oakville transit buses to Oakville Go and the area around Oakville Go is already heavily congested that many buses arrive late due to heavy traffic in the area of Oakville Go in particular Trafalgar and the overpass over the 403. The area can not possibly accommodate thousands of more residents with vehicles.
These towers are not the answer to livable and affordable housing. Most of these units will not be helpful for young couples/families looking to raise a family, as most units will be too small. This type of housing has proved to be a failure throughout the GTA with multiple units empty and construction projects cancelled. This type of housing is not a long term solution for young adults and families.
Midtown Oakville is not downtown Toronto. The Town of Oakville is a suburb and not the largest city in Canada. The Town of Oakville and its residents should decide how best to build residential neighbourhoods in Oakville.
Your government will be doing a disservice to the existing and future residents of Oakville by forcing this development on the Town of Oakville as the majority of residents are opposed to this project.
