As a resident of Oakville, I am very concerned about the Minister’s Zoning Orders for the Transit-Oriented Community in the Town of Oakville. The size of the towers proposed on small areas of land are enormous. There is no need for towers that high, especially in a place like Oakville where the town takes great effort to ensure that Oakville is a livable community for families and individuals. The density and traffic in that area will be terrible. Traffic is already bad enough, especially in the Trafalgar and QEW area which is already so busy. By going through with this proposal, you will forever damage Oakville.
I am beyond disappointed that the Government of Ontario is not listening to the residents of Oakville or accepting the reasonable limits that have been set by the Town of Oakville for growth and development. You are taking away our power, input and decision making. Oakville is where we live and we should have some input on building in the area.
The residents of Oakville will have to live with the actions of the provincial government for years to come. I am asking that you please reconsider the current transit-oriented community plans. We want a liveable Oakville with reasonable sized buildings (not towers), areas for the community to use, nature, and less traffic congestion.
