I am a longtime resident of Ontario and have lived in several different parts of this extensive and diverse province. I speak as a longtime cottager and canoeist, as a photographer, and as a health professional. I am also very concerned about the environment, about climate change, and the validity of the proposed changes from 36 local conservation authorities to only 7 regional authorities. Given the diversity of this very large province (including varying population densities, varied first-nation populations, the diversity of landscapes and climates, I do not feel that 7 regional authorities will be able to provide enough of the hands-on, local knowledge and solutions, and therefore I am not in favour of the proposed changes.
