I live in Dundas, Ontario, and I have been a member of the HCA for 3 years (since moving here). I agree with the HCA’s position against amalgamating the Ontario conservation authorities into 7 regions. There is no evidence to support this plan as a superior form of stewardship and there is no funding to support such a broad and costly re-structuring. The HCA represents this region very well. They are very knowledgeable about local environmental issues and protections. I’m not at all confident that a regional authority with a much larger area with more diverse needs could manage as well. I would like to see the status quo maintained.
