We live in Lindsay and having heard of the amalgamation of the Conservation Agencies, we immediately thought of how amalgamation of towns like we have here in Kawartha Lakes has made things more costly with less help for locals. It means more distance to travel for our representatives and less likelihood of knowing the real conditions in all of the areas.
So with amalgamating the Conservation Agencies, we believe:
- local experts who know the land and water in the region will be gone
- there will be a loss of the local community voice on environmental decisions
- the effectiveness of local programs will be lessened.
- all programs the government takes on cost a lot more money and there is always a lot of waste with government projects - they don't mind spending lots of other peoples' hard earned money
- more people will lose their jobs - we have enough of that now
- the cost of everything will go up in the CAs - it always does when big government gets involved
We care about our local area and believe that consolidating all 36 Conservation Authorities (CAs) into seven large regional bodies is wrong - we want locals to be involved in caring for our conservation areas.
Thank you.
