I live across the road from a Conservation Area along the South Nation river, part of which was a donation to the South Nation Conservation Authority. I am not an expert and don't truly understand the report or the implications of it. I am simply someone that lives where I live in large part due to the Conservation Area. I would ask you to ensure:
-That decisions affecting conservation areas continue to be made at the local level
-That Conservation Areas stay under local control
-That the province increase funding for the conservation and expansion of Conservation Areas, especially with regard to control of invasive species and improving natural habitats.
-That the province covers all costs of any re-organization of conservation authorities from administrative funding, not from conservation funding.
-That I have a local contact who knows the land I am talking about (as is the case currently when I report rare species, well levels etc.)
-That before final decisions are made, there is clearer evidence presented about how the above issues will improve under the proposal.
