Conservation Authorities have been instrumental in protecting local environmental features, at a level of detail that is far beyond the capabilities of a regional structure. The local environment along Lake Erie is vastly different than that of Lake Huron. Local environmental features on the lakeshore is vastly different than those inland. It would be helpful to see some meaningful articulation of how regionalization will make things better. All small municipalities will become disadvantaged and under-represented with these changes. Local investments into local features (dams, campgrounds, donated woodlots, etc) will now be shared and turned over to a 'large faceless organization' that cannot be held accountable to local needs and wants, and will not represent the local intent of those people who donated assets to their local area - they were not intended to become regional assets that are no longer under local control.
Unfortunately this appears to be yet another step towards the government removing control from the citizens and giving it to the government....ie. communism is on its way....
