I would to submit my my opinion in opposition of the the proposed merging of Ontario's conservation areas. In my region, Essex County, we have only 5% of our natural cover left, meaning that 95% has been converted to agricultural, residential, or some other altered use. I’m not writing this to complain about past land use decisions, but I am writing to express my concern with the precariousness of the last little bit that remains. We should be treasuring these remnants of our natural heritage and we should be doing more to link them, maintain them, manage them, and restore them. We should also be doing more to add more natural spaces in my region. I hunt. I have to drive 2 hours to get the the closest public hi table land, there is nothing left in my region. I believe it is urgent that we put more resources and effort into protecting and enhancing our natural spaces, and I oppose any proposals that will continue to are allow for whittling away of our natural heritage. I would very much like for my kids and grandkids to have some wildlife viewing opportunities, and they are becoming fewer and fewer, even in the last few years.
