The decision to pass the act without public consultation first on the concept demonstrates and shakes confidence that this is going ahead regardless. The promise of no job loss was exactly like the MNR re-organization where families were uprooted and dedicated staff were left stranded. The governments( any party) has no concept the work ethic and dedication of natural environment staff. It is not fuelled by high wages but rather true love of protecting the resources yet acknowledge need for development. Its not like an employee put part a on part b..then punch out. The fear of the local touch is real with staff, partners and the general public as you will see in this registry.
I am not saying there will be all negative results such as positive Standardization for purchasing better deals, legislation consistent( which reg 41/24 has done) opportunity for upward career movement, access to provincial legal advice, vehicle standardization, and equity wages Ontario wide. The common sense question of how Thunder Bay relates as the same as Southern Ontario. Each CA area has specific details and on average high public satisfaction with permit turn around IS FACT.
My suggestion is a OPCA that absorbs Conservation Ontario staff and let the 36 CA'S operate with govt standardization without boundary changes. The cost savings of this option are astronomical, municipalities will support business as usual they are paying for for local improvement/ govt targets with housing. Right now gutting the organization makes no sense. CA's are a VERY productive organization compared to some government sectors.

PLEASE LEARN FROM HISTORY! The 36 C.A.'s are a highly productive engine that could benefit for tweaking putting money into operations rather than the costs of reorganization and downsizing of staff. History proves the detrimental effects of reorganization are clearly apparent with the MNR EXERCISE years ago. Employees were blind sided with small envelope notice you are safe..large envelope you must sell your house at a loss and uproot children in school and take the family out of the community that appreciated your work as a valued member of the community.

Please look at the suggestion putting current Conservation Ontario staff under the new OPCA govt organization as it makes sense for organizational, taxpayer expenditure most effective, and most of all covering environmental concerns working with housing pressures and the demand with the best options.
