As a resident of Hamilton who spends a great deal of time hiking the amazing trails here, I see great value in maintaining and enhancing the status quo of having 36 localized conservation authorities customized to the unique communities they serve. We’ve seen the amalgamation of 14 LHINs in the health sector into Ontario Health as an effort that has largely failed partially as a result of attempts similar to what is proposed here for the conservation authorities. I implore the Ford government to reconsider the proposal and rather than investing time and resources into amalgamation, conduct a needs assessment to determine how said resources could go towards enhancing the existing 36 entities.
