How does consolidating conservation areas support affordable housing? Every city has infil spaces, derelict properties and dormant industrial landscape. How about using those to improve communities and build hi-density residences people can actually afford rather than destroying natural spaces and selling off wilderness to developers of luxury neighborhoods.
Climate change and extreme weather pose greater harm to communities if not properly managed. How can Regional agencies manage environmental hazards better than local ones? Will population density drive decision making? If so, what hope do small communities have then, for funding and vital ecological programs? How much money will be wasted on admin, name changes and restructuring that might otherwise have led to actual homes being built on existing vacant lands? Habitat for Humanity knows how to build affordable homes... leave wilderness and protected spaces alone.
