I do not support the proposed changes to the present system of Conservation Authorities.
There are so many reasons that goes against what the Government wants to do.
First of all, individuals will be once removed from have direct access to their local conservation areas through local councils. The monies that come from local levies can and will be used without local insight and control.
Lands donated to the Conservation Authorities will be taken over by the province which is exactly opposite of what donors wanted.
The extra layer caused by these proposed changes will take monies away from the existing Conservation Authorities.
Bigger is definitely not better.
This should be a referendum issue letting Ontarian's decide if they want or support this.
