I do not support these changes to the legislation. The proposed consolidation shows limited understanding of the importance of local governance in local issues. There is zero sense in consolidating conservation authorities in Huron County with those surrounding Lake Superior. Landform regions are different, weather patterns are different, and local needs are different. This is short-sighted legislation and dismisses the progress local conservation areas have made and the funds local residents have committed to them.
