Ontario is home to many of the best nature landmarks in all of North America. The impact this proposition would have can not be understated. Beyond the obvious of worse maintained trails and lookouts, getting rid of invasive species control can cause significant issues in the long run. The cost cutting proposed is insignificant compared to the benifits Ontarioans would lose.

On an economic level its short sighted as greatly reducing the job market for this specialized field will cause many people who previously had decent employment, be unable to get comparable jobs in pay. That reduces these people's buying power and increases the unemployment/underemployment rate at a time when jobs are hard to come by in Ontario because of the actions of the United States and general economic uncertainty.

This is the easiest rake to not step on. So few people follow provincial politics but people are talking about this proposition. Every single person I've met and talked to about this proposition hates it. The pitch is such a ludicrous reduction to something everyone likes. Reducing 1 or 2 authorities is a pitch that would probably make it through, the amount that you're aiming to reduce is insulting. The conservative government won the provincial election because of a "Hard on Trump, protect Canada stance". This is your opportunity to protect Canadian jobs, Canadian culture and Canadian land.
