E85 gasoline is a TERRIBLE idea.
Only select new vehicles run it, whereas plenty of older vehicles still on the road can run E90 gasoline. By switching to E85, you will be forcing people to abandon perfectly running cars to buy new ones. There are thousands of perfectly fuel efficient Honda Civics and Toyota Corollas and the like on the road from the early 2000s if not earlier. They will have to be junked if gasoline is switched to E85. How is that environmentally friendly? How is that helping families save money by all of a sudden having to buy a new car?
Ethanol is incredibly corrosive to car fuel and engine systems, so much so that Hondas and Toyotas even to this day don't recommend more than 10% ethanol. These are the most reliable cars on the planet.
Higher ethanol content also leads to worse fuel economy in cars. You get less miles per gallon.
Your plan to save the environment will cost consumers and do nothing to save the environment.
Bring back the hybrid/electric vehicle tax credit if you really want to help Ontarians save money and the environment.
Moreover ethanol derived from corn is a terrible way to subsidies the agricultural industry. Keep
