I am a longtime Wabakimi canoe tripper and I do value and use the tourism opportunities in Amstrong ON and spend a bit of money there.. With the 1997 expansion of the Park, I found more canoeing opportunities. At least logging and road building were held to Park boundaries. The fishing and hunting lodges were not an annoyance. That there were some rather than many, made their appearance appreciated as a potential rescue resource and not an eyesore. I have been involved with finding and documenting historic canoe routes in the last ten years, and find the historic value of Wabakimi canoe routes significant. Its not often you can find a grave of a voyageur from two hundred fifty years ago, much less blazes on old growth cedar of the same age. Logging would for sure remove that intrinsic historic value. I have been chasing woodland caribou for a long time without results. It was my pleasure in old age to FINALLY see one just lounging on a cliff looking at me in Wabakimi. Please do not deny that opportunity to my children. Roads and caribou do not mix
