I would like to thank this Ministry for regularly reviewing various acts and practices to respond to the current situations, including COVID 19 recovery.
After reading your materials and reflecting on the past dark history of land exploitation and profit-based decisions that have been made in this province, I have serious concerns in eliminating the public feedback and notifications from any important decisions that your ministry would make. In particular, in the name of affordable housing and public goods (hospital facilities and long term homes).
I am not only opposing the changes that you are proposing, but highly encourage you and demand that create a permanent committee that would include public figures and community organizations (including Indigenous peoples) from various backgrounds and situations who would be always consulted on decisions about 'land' and extracting benefits. The decisions that you/we are making today are having an immediate impact on lives of many humans and nonhumans today but also in future that would come.
If we want to avoid another damaging pandemic, we need to respect our lands and make our decisions not based on benefits but sustainability.
