Hello,
I am a resident of Mississauga-Lakeshore and am vehemently opposed to ERO 019-3471.
As a young person, this proposal is a direct assault on my future and would encourage me to leave Ontario. Climate change is an existential threat to our society and must be a top priority in ALL decision-making. Our province needs to be INCREASING the proportion of energy generated from renewable sources to mitigate impending climate change.
To even propose policies that support the opposite indicates that this government fails to comprehend the urgency of the climate emergency and the science supporting the need to RAPIDLY seek a CARBON NEUTRAL society.
Please! Revoke this proposal and replace it with an alternative that creates even stricter requirements for energy generation to support transitioning our province to net-neutral carbon emissions. These requirements should be time-bound to the near future and supported in partnership between the Province and municipalities.
In summary, this proposal is appalling and must not be supported by our government.
